I visited the Kabisa team in Kigali a day before they began the ambitious 1200 km road trip in an electric double cabin pickup from Kigali to Nairobi for the Africa E-Mobility Week. 5 days and many logistical challenges later, the brave team was in town. It was a pleasure for Advanced Mobility Africa to welcome the team to Nairobi after this pioneering feat.
The main logistical challenge was around the type, connection & availability of the expected charging points along the way. Despite the current challenges with long distance EV use, the bold demonstration is further proof that it is possible.
In fact, in the future it looks like range anxiety will join the 92% of concerns that statisticians say will never happen yet people still worry about them for nothing. Looking forward to seeing if the return trip will take less time since it is a second bite of the cherry.
