The Electric Mobility Association of Kenya (EMAK) Open Day took place last Friday to share progress reports on various aspects of electric mobility in Kenya. There were some insightful presentations and discussions on milestones achieved and the targets for the coming year. I was glad to share how critical the training and awareness pillar is to the sustainable mobility revolution.
Technology grows because of adoption by people, therefore without people using it no transition is possible. And while new products can land in the market within one shipping cycle, the aftersale support capacity needed to support them often needs months & years to build. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now.
EMAK is preparing a white paper that will be one of the submissions to the national budget for 2025. From policies to incentives to frameworks to best practices to road maps and everything else in between. This is definitely a marathon and not a sprint, and if we don’t take charge of the change, the change will take charge of us.
