Last evening we got to witness BYD full electric vehicles being launched officially in Kenya, the best selling EV brand in the world is finally in Nairobi. BYD by Loxea Kenya has launched the Atto 3, Dolphin & Seal much to the excitement of the electric mobility network. Made in China has a whole different meaning once you experience the level of innovation & excellence in BYD vehicles.
The top spec of the BYD Atto 3 crossover SUV has a 60 kwh LFP battery, single motor FWD, 480 km range & 160 kph top speed. Some features include 7 airbags, 12.8″ rotating touch screen, 5″ instrument panel, wireless phone charger, sunroof & 215/55 R18 tyres. The direct competitors include the VW ID4 and the Mahindra XUV400 which is already in Kenya.
The top spec of the BYD Dolphin hatchback has 60 kwh LFP battery, single motor FWD, 427 km range & 160 kph top speed. Some features include 7 airbags, 360 degree cameras, 12.8″ rotating touch screen, satellite navigation, wireless phone charging & 205/50 R17 tyres. The direct competitors include VW ID4, and the GWM Ora 03 which is also already in Nairobi.
The top spec of the BYD Seal saloon has a 82 kwh LFP battery, dual motor AWD, 570 km range & 180 kph top speed. Some features include 8 airbags, 15.6″ rotating touch screen, 10.2″ dashboard display, panoramic roof, 360 degree cameras, two wireless phone chargers, voice assistant & 235/45 R19 tyres. It is a direct competitor to the best selling vehicle in 2023, the Tesla Model Y.
All the BYD models have the proprietary BYD blade battery and CCS2 charging standard.
